About Gay Sons & Mothers

It started with frustration.

GS&M founder Rick Miller, a psychotherapist, had been counseling gay clients for years and was realizing the special importance of the bond between gay men and their mothers. Anxious to learn more about it, he did a deep dive into the literature on the subject… and found there was none. Nothing! No one was writing or talking about something he was uncovering as vital to gay men’s well-being… or lack thereof.

That frustration inspired him to start seeking out stories of gay men and their mothers. He has interviewed hundreds of people, speaks at conferences and events and in front of groups all over the world, and is working on a book and a documentary film about the subject.

Sometimes frustration can lead to amazing things!
